Hello world! It might be a somewhat sad post today but only because I’m pretty emotional since last night. I could share the whole story but I won’t. No need to name names or point fingers. Let’s just say I was let go from a store I used to blog for, without any prior warning or discussion about their intention. I was really surprised that happened, since I kept my part of the deal. I met the requirements and, I believe, I did everything I could to showcase their stuff, best way possible. Best, is not good enough though. And hey, it’s their decision and I have to accept and respect it. I’m still so grateful I got the opportunity to be part of their team in the first place.
Rejection is part of our lives. If you think about it, we get rejected constantly, in so many different ways. But sometimes, it can’t help but feel personal. This was not a Blueberry application, where you got rejected only because 1.000 other bloggers applied. I can live with that. This is being rejected after being part of the team!
I have mentioned before how blogging is therapeutic to me. It’s a brilliant escape to forget my troubles and distract me from the things that bother me. It’s also a lot of sacrifices. It’s the time away from my friends in RL, my friends in SL, my family. It’s also the times I missed my dance classes, I was late for work or lost sleep. Clearly I made the wrong choices and let SL take over RL but I will stand by my decisions, because they make me happy. It is what it is.
I once read a quote: Confidence is not “they will like me”. Confidence is “I’ll be fine if they don’t”. And it’s true! Now, if you’re a stubborn Virgo like me, you know that the best thing to do next is, pick yourself up, dust yourself off, remember why you started this in the first place and prove them wrong. At least, that’s what I plan on doing.
